Harvesting lychee honey

Our partner beekeeper is Jean Walter, a Frenchman with agronomic training, went to live in Madagascar 25 years ago and in 2015 installed more than 350 hives a few kilometers from Manaka, in guaranteed pesticide-free areas. Jean Walter’s production is exceptionally pure.

The species of bee found in this region is the Apis Mellifera Unicolor. It is endemic to Malagasy soil, robust, not very aggressive and relatively spared from the diseases found elsewhere.
